A reckless enhanced courier accidentally steals a device capable of opening temporary gateways between realities. When a hardened warrior from a collapsing world arrives through the gateway, the two men become unlikely partners in a race against a ruthless scientist who wants to merge multiple realities into a single empire.
Story: Jace Rylan is a sarcastic, fast-moving courier who uses experimental combat technology to survive dangerous jobs. During a routine theft, he discovers that the mysterious device he has stolen can tear open short-lived passages between alternate realities. Before he can understand what he has found, a heavily injured warrior named Toren Vale crashes through the gateway.
Toren comes from a dying version of Earth where an entire civilization has been destroyed by a dimensional war. He believes Jace's device is responsible and wants it destroyed. But when they discover that scientist Adrian Voss has been deliberately creating the gateways, the two enemies realize they have a common target.
Jace and Toren reluctantly travel together through unstable realities, encountering alternate cities, dangerous soldiers and strange versions of familiar places. Jace relies on speed, improvisation and humor, while Toren depends on discipline, strength and battlefield experience. Their constant arguments become an unexpected advantage as they learn to fight as a team.
In the final act, Voss activates the largest gateway yet, causing several realities to overlap. Jace and Toren enter the collapsing facility for one final confrontation, knowing that destroying the machine could permanently trap one of them on the wrong side of reality.
